Expressing the quirky characters of our canine soulmates through colour and texture
About Nette
Nette is a contemporary artist based in the Peak District, where she runs her business from a studio nestled amongst pine trees in her garden.
Initially she got the incentive to pick up her paintbrush again from photos she’d taken of her own dogs on walks in the breath-taking Derbyshire countryside; her love for colours; and the long lockdown days. But then was further inspired from the wonderful expressions given so generously to us by this captivating species … if you’re a dog lover, it’s hard to pass such expressions by without a smile that fills your heart.
Her aim is to express the happiness dogs bring to our lives by using quirky colour twists in acrylic paints to create a cocktail of colours for the viewers’ eyes. She also uses texture on her pieces to emphasise certain fabulous features of her subjects, from fur and lashes to ears and jowls.
She not only encapsulates the subject but also intends to conjure feelings associated with specific places, activities, the British seasons or nature; and she uses bright colours to evoke various emotions from happiness, warm and squidgy, to calm and serene – all feelings also experienced through relationships we have with this humble species.
She hopes her pieces tickle the soul and bring another smile to your day.
Thank you for taking the time to view her work.
